ANTI-MOLE NETS
Fighting moles can take years – anyone with a garden has surely met this problem and knows what we mean. You have probably tried every possible way to reduce the damage they do, in vain.
Luckily, on this page we present the most effective and acceptable way to show moles they don't belong in your garden. Lay anti-mole nets and you can stop worrying.
Much of the advice shared online is not acceptable, because it harms or kills the animals. Moles are a protected species and you may find yourself in trouble if you fight them by prohibited means. It is enough to physically stop them from reaching the surface, and they will look for a new home by themselves.
What does an anti-mole net look like?
Such a simple and yet such a useful product. The net is made of quality plastic, 100% extruded polypropylene. It is resistant to UV radiation and to all conditions underground. Once laid, it will help for years, steering these little pests somewhere else.
It comes in widths of 1 m or 2 m, with mesh openings of 15x18 mm or 15x22 mm. It is packed in rolls 100 m or 200 m long. The net weighs 40 g per square metre. Depending on the size of your garden, you can choose the right type of net.
How do anti-mole nets work?
A very simple system that stops moles from reaching the surface. The net is laid underground at a depth of 15–20 cm when the lawn is being established. This creates a physical barrier and makes it clear from the start to the animals underground that digging is not allowed.
Many other methods and tricks either fail completely or solve the problem only temporarily. Only a net is a long-term solution. With a physical barrier in place, no other protection is needed. The net alone is enough to solve a problem you may have been facing for a long time.
How to lay an anti-mole net
As mentioned, the net is laid under the lawn. This is only possible when you are establishing a new lawn: first lay the net, then a 15–20 cm layer of soil, and then sow the grass.
If you are laying turf, simply roll the turf out over the net and you have nothing more to worry about.
Make sure the strips of net overlap by 15–20 cm, to further reduce the chance of moles finding a way through. Also, where there are physical obstacles such as trees, buildings or kerbs, lay the net in an "L" shape against the obstacle.
How to order an anti-mole net
We advise against experimenting with other kinds of net you have at home or see in other shops. They will not withstand the gnawing and digging of moles, so you won't get the protection you hoped for.
Buy only nets made for this kind of protection, from specialist suppliers like us. We have been making many kinds of certified protective nets for more than 20 years.
