Groundwater drainage under waterproofed water reservoirs

When excavating a pool, groundwater and water courses may be met that must be drained to eliminate hydrostatic pressure and keep the structure stable. Installing INTER TECH DRAIN under the waterproofing layer allows you to: intercept underground flows, lower the water table and cut off capillary rise in clay and loam soils. Drainage and capture of biogas under waterproofed water reservoirs

When designing and building water reservoirs, it is advisable to check for biogas produced by decomposing organic matter in the soil beneath. The perfect impermeability of polyethylene geomembranes is an impenetrable barrier to gas rising towards the surface. The gas accumulates under the geomembrane and puts constant pressure on it. Biogas pockets form that rupture the membrane and destabilise the pool. The solution is INTER TECH DRAIN installed under the polyethylene membrane. The drainage geocomposites intercept the rising gas and quickly channel it to slotted drainage pipes, which carry it outside the area occupied by the reservoir. By eliminating the pressure of trapped gas, it prevents dangerous biogas pockets from forming.
